TASDP PURPOSE

TASDP was formed in 1992 to give a voice to the growing number of school district police departments in the state of Texas. Having no organization to facilitate them, these newly formed departments were addressing similar problems individually. TASDP now provides a forum for these departments to discuss matters of unified interest and form common solutions. The Association wishes to sound a cohesive voice on issues that concern school district police officers, and providing quality training to school district police with the assistance of the TMPA Training Department.

DUES AND MEMBERSHIP

TASDP's dues are included in TMPA monthly membership dues. TMPA members who are school district police officers will receive the TASDP newsletter and information on TASDP events.

LEGISLATION

TASDP reviews proposed legislation as it pertains to the law enforcement and education communities. TASDP has enjoyed great success in the State Legislature. During the 74th Legislative Session TASDP assisted in the passage of legislation helping gang investigators compile and share information on gang members while also making additions to the Education Code specifying that only TCLEOSE certified personnel may supervise school district LEOs. TASDP also worked successfully for retaining the Safe School provisions in the Education Code.

MEETINGS & TRAINING

Meetings are held twice yearly to address Association business including the legislative agenda and the training needs of the Texas school district police community. The TMPA Training Department offers TASDP members courses specifically designed for school district law enforcement officers.
